Innovative research fuels future advances in health care
Jennifer Yentes, Laboratory Manager, Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility, University of Nebraska at Omaha

The Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility is a world-renowned laboratory focusing on advancing healthcare through innovative research. Our goal is to facilitate the efficacy of current rehabilitation and treatment techniques as well as understanding mechanisms of disease. The work being done currently within this facility spans the entire lifetime, focusing on chronic diseases such as cerebral palsy, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In addition, we have discovered new ways in facilitating surgeons, through virtual reality and understanding the relationship of cognition and movement in older adults. Our facility currently has four patent-pending devices designed specifically to promote physicians' diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. This presentation will cover the many discoveries that have been made within our facility as well as the innovation through virtual reality and new devices we have engineered.
