Nebraska Entrepreneurs Spotlight Video Series Competition

Deadline for submissions is extended until August 12th

To kick off Nebraska Entrepreneur’s next video series we are turning directly to you to help highlight entrepreneurs and resource providers that you feel have a great story to tell.

Consider this: for entrepreneurs, we want those that have learned lessons from being in the trenches and want to share those experiences with others. For resource providers, we want those organizations that work with entrepreneurs to help make their ambitions a success rather than companies that are merely wanting to sell their product.

Nebraska Entrepreneur will choose the five best submissions. Winners will be contacted and a video shoot time will be setup. There is no charge for the video. The finished videos will then be posted on NebraskaEntrepreneur.com for all to enjoy and learn from. Below, you can see past interviews with an entrepreneur and resource provider or checkout the Video page to see all videos.

Submissions will be taken on our Facebook Page by commenting on the Post about this video contest. You can also post your nomination by commenting at the bottom of this page. Write a paragraph that tells us why this person or organization should be chosen. Nominate yourself or someone else. Deadline for submissions has been extended until August 12th.

Let’s go everybody, this is a great way to get some traction for what you’re doing and how you’re helping out Nebraska!

I would like to submit 2 nominations:

    1) As a fairly young company, Leadership Resources has helped a number of small businesses and entrepreneurs from the Lincoln/Omaha area establish business processes that allow them to expand their services, better serve their customers and pursue their dreams. However, in doing this, Leadership Resources has also experienced their fair share of lessons in entrepreneurship including the challenge of pursuing new markets, moving locations, hiring the right people for the job, spinning off a new radio show, and innovating with technology. They have an entrepreneur based development group going right now that meets monthly — the men in this group share their best practices and remain committed to one another’s growth as an entrepreneur. It’s been a neat thing to witness the group and Leadership Resources grow through the program. http://www.LRsuccess.com

    2) Contemporary Analysis is a new company started recently by two young men who desired to help ycompanies find better ways to analyze data – it involves collecting data about the business and customers, and then applying theory and math to build simple systems to help companies work more effectively and efficiently. Though I’m not super familiar with their business, they’ve recently built a larger list of clients and have received several mentions on the progressive nature of their business and the collaborative approach of the two partners. http://www.contemporaryanalysis.com

  3. The Nebraska Enterprise Fund has many program partners, all of whom serve micro businesses across Nebraska with training, technical assistance with most also providing micro loans for start-up and existing businesses. Their impact in assisting Nebraska Entrepreneurs is huge. At this time we’d like to nominate the following:

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese Omaha created the Microbusiness Training and Development Program (CC-MTDP) as a response to the need of creating viable economic development opportunities for low income individuals. The program improves self-sufficiency outcomes by adequately preparing individuals for self-employment and entrepreneurship. Although the program has existed for more than 12 years, the demand for microenterprise services has grown substantially in recent years as employment opportunities in the traditional job market continue to diminish. In the last five years, 482 individuals received formal Microbusiness training and 1,894 clients were served with over 8,284 hours of technical assistance, business coaching and advanced trainings.

During the last two years alone, the program was instrumental in the upstart of 94 new businesses, creating or retaining 173 jobs in the community. Services continue after the establishment of a business. Adriana Zambrano is the Program Director, 402.933.0756 Ext. 1, adrianaz@ccomaha.org

In addition I’d like to nominate one of their clients who came from Mexico and worked as a janitor to begin with in Omaha, but has utilized business development assistance from Catholic Charities to grow her business from doing contract work for other designers to now designing her own clothing line. Yolanda Diaz is a designer who has been featured as an Omaha designer at the Omaha Fashion Week and other venues in the past couple of years.
